The Weekly 30-Minute Bathroom Clean That Stops Grime Before It Sets
Bathrooms get gross because grime is left to cure. A short weekly pass resets the surfaces before soap scum and mildew harden, and a fixed order means no wasted motion.
The setup (do once, keep a caddy)
One bucket: all-purpose cleaner, glass cleaner, disinfectant, a microfiber set, an old toothbrush, a squeegee under the sink. Carrying everything at once is what keeps the routine to 30 minutes.
Order: chemicals on, then work top to bottom
Minute 0-3: apply and wait
Spray the tub, shower walls and toilet bowl first, then walk away. Dwell time is the actual cleaning; your hands do it later.
Minute 3-10: mirror, sink, counters
Glass cleaner and a dry cloth on the mirror (wipe in an S, not circles). Scrub the sink basin and faucet base, polish the faucet with a dry corner.
Minute 10-20: the shower and tub
While the scum softens, wipe the walls top to bottom with the all-purpose, hit the tile line and corners with the brush, then rinse and squeegee the glass. Dry the built-in shelf so mildew has nothing to feed on.
Minute 20-27: the toilet
Brush the bowl with disinfectant under the rim, then wipe the tank, seat, lid, hinge and the outside of the bowl with dedicated cloths. Finish the floor around it.
Minute 27-30: floor and reset
Wipe the floor from the far corner to the door, let the shower run cold for a minute to flush drained hair from the catch, and hang the wet towels so the cloth-drying step takes itself out of next week.
The habits that double the effect
A ten-second squeegee after showers stops most mold. Weekly is enough if you never let it go more than ten days. Do it on the same day and it stops being a decision.
